Choose a contribution >If you walked with us, shared a meal, met a guide, or carried Palestine home with you, this page is for you. Founded in 2016. Rooted in Palestine. Still here because of the people, places, and memories that made Hantourism possible.
Hantourism was founded around a simple belief: travel can create real value when it is rooted in local ownership, careful hosting, and respect for place.
One of the earliest ideas was to offer slower, low-impact ways to explore Jericho through local initiatives and farmer-owned experiences. Over time, that spirit grew into around 50 experiences with more than 30 local partners across Palestine.
Through its growth, Hantourism prioritized collaboration and collective power: bringing travelers closer to independent hosts, guides, families, artisans, and places that carry their own stories.
Welcoming new hosts, routes, stories, and places into the Hantour community.
Keeping value close to local guides, families, artisans, and community-led experiences.
Keeping relationships alive, so travel can return through people who know and care for these places.
These have been years of uncertainty, trauma, and interrupted livelihoods across the region. Some partners moved on. Some guides left the country. Some local projects and communities have faced pressures that made continuation difficult.
Still, our responsibility is to keep looking forward. Hantourism remains proud of what this community represents: a locally rooted, independent, and careful way to share the best of our homeland, people, and culture with thoughtful visitors.
Cooking workshops, cycling tours, music masterclasses, sunrise hikes, and destination-led experiences were developed or refined.
As travel logistics became uncertain, we worked with partners to rethink routes, safety, sensitivities, and practical support.
The website, content, products, search visibility, and booking infrastructure still need work, but the project and the people, friendships, and collaboration behind it remain standing.
We are building a new website that goes beyond booking tours. It will include curated Palestinian content about points of interest, destinations, trails, routes, and practical travel support.
One of the most important goals is to help independent budget travelers join together so they can share the minimum cost of experiences. This has been part of Hantourism's mission from day one, and we are finally integrating it into the technology itself.
Points of interest, destinations, trails, routes, and context for responsible independent travel.
A technology layer for grouping travelers who can make local experiences affordable together.
As part of the rebuild, we are simplifying the brand: from Hantourism to Hantour, the original name connected to the slow local carriage experience that sparked the project.
During the first year of the war, we worked with Gaza-based designer @Musab Mushtaha under extraordinarily difficult conditions to create the new logo and direction. The visual identity is still being refined, and we want it to stand for who we are: locally rooted, independent, open, careful, and proud.
